Background
This travel website focuses on organized tours.
Link building was our primary focus because this customer already had a content team.
In reality, they started with one of our Guest Post packages in March 2017 and joined our Managed SEO plan in May 2018 after seeing rapid expansion.
When they first started buying packages from us, the estimated monthly traffic was just around 1,700, but it’s now up to 10,000+!
Here’s how we did it:
The SEO Audit
As the first stage in our managed SEO service, we always perform a site audit.
We consider a variety of elements, such as recent traffic, anchor text, and backlinks.
We found no penalties on the site, and it was off to a great start thanks to their internal content staff and consistency.
Before they enrolled in the Managed SEO service, they were already performing link building a-la-carte with 5–15 DA30+ Guest Post links per month.
Having said that, we saw that they were focusing on exact match anchors, therefore we wanted to make sure that the campaign had diversity to defend this site. We noted that this can become an issue if your anchor text is overly optimized.
Keyword Research – “Easy Wins”
We like looking for terms with “quick wins” in them. In our preliminary analysis, we found 926 keywords with easy wins in slots 4–30.
It was great news that several of their pages had high ranking potential. We used this to uncover LSI keywords that we might use as anchor text while building links in addition to choosing high volume targets with the client.
Keyword Research – Competitive Gap Analysis
The competitive gap research is meant to help us uncover keywords for which your competitors now rank but you do not. It’s common to refer to them as your undeveloped gold reserves.
We found 92 keywords in their competitive range that they were neglecting to use.
We shared this information with them rather than using it as our standard starting point for content creation because they had their own content development team.
The SEO Campaign & Execution
As I mentioned, they were already purchasing high-quality links from us, so that built a nice foundation.
